Module 1A Activity 12 Teaching and Learning
Problem solving assists students with developing their reasoning skills. Students learn how analyze issues and create solutions. The students have to use higher order thinking skills to decipher and select information that would assist with solving a problem. When students have found as solution they then become confident and they exude that in their body language and presentation. If the students are given a problem to solve in a group they can collaborate and discuss suitable solutions for their problem. Students learn from one another and develop coping and social skills. Problem solving also provides the opportunity for teachers to observe how the students are able to apply the knowledge that they have.
